The second Murraysburg Trail run - 03 Dec 2016
6km walk/short trail run
12km trail run
The route starts at the bottom of town at the show ground and then passes the old "saai lande". From there you will run past a very unique feature, the Steen Oonde, this is where bricks are still made as in the old days from clay using donkeys .
It then winds its way along the Buffalo river om some amazing single track, passing under the age old Willow trees along the river. In this section the single track almost fades to veld, and you will be running in line of sight using the Willow trees as way points.
At the first Willow tree, the short and long course will split. The short course will go past the ancient Khoi-San caves and then over Dokters koppie.
The longer course will cross the river and wind along it on beautiful single track. The single track changes into jeep track and you eventually cross the Richmond-Murraysburg road. You carry on jeep track and eventually emerge on top of the "Murraysburg hill". From here you drop down through the veld with a very technical section, cross over the Buffalo river bridge, and the you are into the last stretch. The longer route will be more challenging than the short, but much more rewarding.
